My father’s life was cut short by prostate cancer at just 55 years old. Years later, my brother-in-law nearly lost his leg to diabetes before a team at the Cleveland Clinic discovered what had previously been overlooked. Those experiences are part of the reason HJG House exists—a trusted space where Detroit brothers can pause, find answers and get the support they need without fear or judgment.

Black men are the backbone of our families and communities. They keep pushing forward, often putting everyone else first and brushing aside the small warning signs their bodies may be giving them. Unfortunately, waiting too long can sometimes have serious consequences.
HJG House is not a physical house—it is a trusted online space where Black men can search for answers and feel seen, heard and supported. It was created to make taking that first step toward better health feel safer and less overwhelming, with plain-language health information, connections to real local resources and a community committed to walking beside you.
